Four suspects – from Watsonville, Hayward, Antioch and Los Gatos – are accused of arranging to meet minors in San Jose for sexual encounters.

San Jose police have arrested two men in connection with the shooting death of a man sitting in his vehicle in East San Jose in 2020. Police announced Aug. 16 that they had arrested 27-year-old Hulizes Garcia-Urista and 29-year-old Jairo Ortiz-Plancarte last week.

Police reported that during violent incidents that began more than a year ago at his Morgan Hill home, Officer Timothy Hackney threw his girlfriend into a bedroom and would not let her leave, forcibly covered her mouth so she couldn’t scream and slapped a phone out of her hand so that she couldn’t call 911.

Juan Huerta-Palacios, 44, was arrested on suspicion of gross vehicular manslaughter and felony DUI.

Police identified the suspect as Alejandro Lopez Nunez, 38, of Santa Clara, a behavioral therapist with Trumpet Behavioral Health and also a part-time Instructional Aide at Forest Hill Elementary School at the time of the June 7 incident.

Officers attempted to negotiate with the suspect but he fired at least one round at them.

San Jose police have arrested two men, both of San Jose, and charged them with felony grand theft in connection with a massive six-month shoplifting spree that yielded over $75,000 in stolen goods from various local retail stores. From July 2023 to January 2024, San José Police Department Financial Crimes Unit Detectives began investigating over 70 retail thefts that occurred in the city of San José. During this investigation, Detectives discovered that the suspects committed theft in various retail stores, including Target, NIKE, REI, Best Buy, and Dicks Sporting Goods.
