San Jose Inside is an independent digital news site covering politics, government, civic life and culture in San Jose and Santa Clara County.

Founded in 2005 by former San Jose Mayor Tom McEnery, San Jose Inside publishes original reporting, analysis, opinion and investigative work focused on public affairs in Silicon Valley. Our mission is to hold local power to account, surface overlooked stories and give readers useful context for understanding decisions that shape the city and county.

San Jose Inside is owned by Weeklys Media Group, a San Jose-based independently owned local media company. We are not owned by a publicly traded company, newspaper chain, hedge fund or private equity firm—nor funded by labor unions or special interests.

Our journalism is guided by accuracy, fairness, independence and transparency. News, opinion and analysis are labeled clearly. We correct errors when they are brought to our attention, and we welcome reader feedback, tips and questions.
