The San Jose Police Department’s Gang Investigations Unit has arrested five suspects – three young men and two juveniles – for the brutal mugging of a woman and her son in an East San Jose retail business parking lot in January..
Detectives identified and obtained arrest warrants for the five robbers after the Jan. 18 assault and robbery, as well as search warrants for their residences.

On Feb. 12, police arrested 18-year-old Mario Perez and the two juveniles in San José. During the arrest and search warrant execution for the two juvenile suspects, detectives found illegal firearms and booked the juveniles into Santa Clara County Juvenile Hall for robbery, assault, and various firearm-related crimes.
On March 4, suspects Emiliano Jimenez, 20, and Tommy Gonzalez,19, were located and arrested in San José, and booked into Santa Clara County Jail for gang-motivated robbery and assault.
On the afternoon of Jan. 18, police officers responded to a report of an assault with a deadly weapon and a robbery that occurred at a business parking lot located in the 3000 block of Story Road.
The juvenile male victim and his mother were shopping when they were approached by five male suspects. The suspects violently assaulted the juvenile victim, causing him to lose consciousness. During the attack, the adult female victim attempted to intervene to protect her child and was assaulted as well. The suspects fled the scene before police arrived. Police said a preliminary investigation revealed that the attack was gang-motivated.
