Six of the suspects, including a 17-year-old juvenile, were charged with murder, while two others, including an 18-year-old female, were arrested for being accessories after the fact. All are from San Jose.

The DA's Cold Case Unit said the body of Jeanette Ralston, then 24-years-old and living in San Mateo, was found in the back seat of her Volkswagen Beetle near a San Jose apartment complex in 1977. Police said she had been strangled and raped, and the killer had tried unsuccessfully to burn the car.
