Alex Stettinski has stepped down from his role as CEO of the San Jose Downtown Association, board chair Emily Rucvalcaba announced this week.
No reason was given for the resignation of Stettinski after three years on the job.
“During his time with the organization, Alex brought energy, creativity, and a deep commitment to the vitality of downtown San Jose,” Rucvalcaba said in an email to her members. “Alex is now pursuing his next chapter, and we’re excited for what lies ahead for him. We thank him for his service and contributions to our community.”
The Downtown Association Board of Directors appointed Past Board Chair Gumby Marques as interim CEO, during what the board called “time of transition.”
“Our commitment to downtown remains unwavering,” the board chair said. “From strengthening our clean and safe efforts to supporting economic development and promoting local businesses, we’re moving forward with focus and momentum.”
Downtown San Jose is so vibrant now, post-Covid lockdown shuttering many small businesses permanently, that the mayor now refuses to walk around without multiple bodyguards.
