Sarah Palin at SJ Chamber Event?

Fly has heard that the San Jose Silicon Valley Chamber of Commerce is pushing to nail down none other then Caribou Barbie herself, Sarah Palin, as the main speaker at their 2010 Annual Legends and Leaders gala. The event is the Chamber’s premier fundraising shindig, attracting hundreds of the valley’s key leaders to the Fairmont each year. Past speakers have included the likes of Condoleezza Rice, Barbara Bush and The Governator as past speakers. Fly almost wonders if the chamber believes Palin would make a competent speaker, or is simply cashing in on her new post–Going Rogue fame.

The Fly is the valley’s longest running political column, written by Metro Silicon Valley staff, to provide a behind-the-scenes look at local politics. Fly accepts anonymous tips.

  1. Since Palin fits into neither category is the Chamber going to change the name of their event? Come to think of it, most of the previous speakers the Chamber has secured don’t fit into either the Legends or Leaders category either, so getting a lightweight like Palin would be nothing new. She would be, perhaps, the most embarrassing speaker to appear in SJ in a long time, though. Has the Chamber no shame nor integrity???

    • > She would be, perhaps, the most embarrassing speaker to appear in SJ in a long time, though.

      Exactly the opposite.

San Jose would be the most brain-damaged, lemming-ized venue she would be appearing at in a long time.

Very likely, though, there will be more than a sufficient number sensible, rational, conscientious people in San Jose to provide an attentive, welcoming audience.  Bring your copy of “Going Rogue” and get in line.  You might be able to get her autograph after four or five hours.

Or, you could go over to the Tech Museum and dig through the dumpsters and find hundreds of unsold Al Gore books under the grease drippings and rotten food scraps.

    • Why not?

Because the brain-damaged sociopaths who put Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid, and Barack Obamagogue in office know that there is a tidal wave of angry voters with pitchforks heading their way in 2010, and their only hope is to slime the little lady who is going to nail their skinny little hides to the barn door next to the moose antlers.

Jesus is coming, and he’s REALLY mad!

  2. So what’s the deal with Sarah Palin anyway? The leftists go irrational nuts at the very mention of her name. If she’s as stupid as they’d have us believe, she’d implode on her own. But the left can’t let it go, they get frothing silly at the sight of her.

Consider what Michael Walsh wrote “It’s an article of faith among the left that Sarah Palin is the stupidest woman in the world, too dumb to know how dumb she really is.  She’s the avatar of all their worst fears: a woman who declined to exercise her right to choose, who loves God, hunts and fishes and, in her spare time, exerts a political influence all out of proportion to her actual elected office – which, come to think of it, at the moment is none.  The Gaia-fearing progressive’s worst nightmare is of Sarah climbing in through his window one moonless night, there either to convert him to Christianity, take him on the Iditarod, or gut him and serve him up for supper.  So fearful is the Tolerant Left of Sarah that they set her church on fire with people inside it — after which, of course, she was the one who apologized, “if the incident is in any way connected to the undeserved negative attention the church has received since she became a vice presidential candidate.””

    That’s the way it is.

    • Bingo!

You and Michael Walsh have nailed the Sarah Palin phenomenon exactly.

Sarah makes the moonbats CRAZY!  I love it! I love it! I love it!

I never miss on opportunity to speak admiringly and reverentially of Sarah at every social gathering.

Moonbats immediately start smoldering and vibrating like cheap washing machines on overload.  They flock around me like I was their cocaine dealer, and sputter that I CAN’T POSSIBLY THINK SARAH PALIN IS A SERIOUS FIGURE!!!  SHE’S AN UNEDUCATED-BACKWOODS-EXTREMIST-RIGHT-WING-BIBLE-THUMPING-CHRISTIAN-GUN-LOVING-MOOSE-GUTTING-HICK-WHO-WANTS-TO-GET-IN-MY-BEDROOM-AND-FORCE-ME-TO-HAVE-BABIES-AND-GO-TO-CHURCH.

And then I correct them:  she’s NOT uneducated; she DID go to the University of Idaho.

    • I don’t know anyone who fears the lightweight from Alaska. I do know many people who are amazed at the people who support her yet have little or no knowledge of what she actually believes. If fear is involved it is only about the intellectual lows this country has achieved and what it means to our future.
And congrats to Palin for being one of the recipients of the “Lie of Year” award for her assistance in promoting the falsehood about “death panels.” Certainly the kind of “leader” we want here in SJ.

      • Not hard to find out what she actually believes. Read “Going Rogue.” Surprisingly, it’s been atop the hardcover nonfiction list since its release.

As for “death panels,” hard to tell whether they will exist or not until Reid lets us know what is in the bill. What ever happened to “the negotiations will be on CSPAN”?

        • Still clinging to the fallacy of death panels? I guess those of you who oppose health care for all have no shame, do you?
As for finding the truth by reading “Going Rogue”—much of what she has “written” has already been said to be fabrications and distortions. The fact that this book of fluff has been atop the bestseller lists is not surprising nor any endorsement that it contatins “truth.” I am surprised that you or the other conspiracy theorists would even acknowledge a best seller list from the NY Times as having validity, though. Aren’t they part of the great liberal, mainstream media kabal that would never report anything “true” about Palin and her ilk?

        • I was referring to her beliefs, which are evident to anyone who bothers to read the book. As for “truth,” if as many fact checkers had bothered to check Gore’s book, Climategate might have erupted sooner.

“Going Rogue” is atop the NY Times best seller list? They classified it in hardcover fiction, right? I was getting my information from the WSJ hardcover non-fiction list…

  3. The Mercury News won’t tell them.  NPR won’t tell them.  PBS won’t tell them.  The alphabet networks won’t tell them. The Noo Yawk Times, the rapidly shrinking San Francisco Chronicle, the disappearing LA Times, won’t tell them.  MoveOn.org and The Daily Kos won’t tell them.

That is quite a conspiracy.  It always amazes how only the lunatic fringe know of these conspiracies.  Of course, that is one reason why they are the lunatic fringe.

    • > That is quite a conspiracy.  It always amazes how only the lunatic fringe know of these conspiracies.

I’m not amazed that you find information from outside the “progressive” bubble to be amazing.

If you stay inside the bubble and breathe deeply you will find yourself becoming increasingly calm, and nothing will amaze you.

  4. The kleptocratic elected officials with their secret apartments in Malaysia assisted their servants plucked from the Turkmenistan immigrant camps are continuing to attack our democracy with aristocracy.  Using the prescription drug tainted water to alter our minds, and football to dull our senses, our anti democratic city councils, investing in Russian cooperatives are working day and night to establish kleptocratic councils.  Save Santa Clara is forming the anti vanity buy groups which monitor our officials are home, work, and where they meet.

  5. If this website is any indication, it’s pretty apparent that the Left is not interested in hearing any opinion other than their own.

If Sarah Palin ever does speak in San Jose, she’ll be angrily shouted down by a wild-eyed mob of diversity loving, tolerance preaching, openminded progressives.

    • > If Sarah Palin ever does speak in San Jose, she’ll be angrily shouted down by a wild-eyed mob of diversity loving, tolerance preaching, openminded progressives.

If Sarah Palin speaks in San Jose, the well-informed, open-minded progressives won’t even know about it.

Well-informed, open-minded progressives live in an oxygen-poor information bubble.  It is a true mystery how they know anything about anything except what the great progressive politburo in the sky wants them to know.

For criminy sakes, the “progressive media” has yet to tell the masses about “Climategate”.  The poor dears all still believe in “human caused global warming.”

        • > What exactly has Palin done that garners your respect for her?

          A. She’s good looking.
          B. She is articulate.
          C. She has common sense.
          D. She is empathetic.
          E. She is not a narcissist.
          F. She is confident without being arrogant or condescending.
          G. She is charismatic.
          H. She is goal oriented.
          I. She has a plan.
          J. She is focused and persistent.
          K. She is authentic.
          L. She is, as a politician, audadious.
          M. She is respectful of others.
          N. She is not intimidated or awed by political phonies.

          And above all:

          O. She makes the moonbats crazy.

In contrast, many of the leading personalities of the current regime and their claque of sycophants are hollow, posturing, self-absorbed narcissists.

        • Yes, that’s it exactly—Professor of Tenure. I feel sorry for you that your glass is always half empty. Maybe some day you will crawl out from under your angry, bitter cloud and realize that not everyone who might disagree with you is evil. I won’t try to convince you any further because it appears you are a long way from coming to that realization.
In the meantime, try to have a nice holiday, D.

  6. I would rather be hated or loved than ignored. The people that made positive difference throughout man’s history are people of contradiction and certainly Sarah is one among them. eg. Jesus, Ghandi, “Saints ” , Reagan,…… etcetera
