Uatesoni Joseph Paasi, 31, was arrested last month in Mexico and was extradited to the U.S. on Dec. 2 and booked into the Santa Clara County Main Jail on a murder charge.

It’s been a busy – and successful – few weeks for San Jose homicide detectives. In a two-week period from July 30 through Aug. 12, city detectives arrested seven suspects, and cleared four homicide cases.

The family of victim Marissa DiNapoli posted is calling for an investigation of the Morgan Hill Police Department for allowing the suspect to flee.

Martin Mendoza was in custody Monday in the Imperial County Jail, awaiting transfer to Santa Clara County.

Harry “Nicky” Nickerson, 16-years-old at the time, stabbed Diane Peterson in 1978 at Branham High School. Just this year, investigators learned that he had confessed the killing to a family member. Nickerson took his own life in 1993.

Cold Case investigators and Vivian Moss’s surviving family are hoping the identification will lead them to Moss’s killer.

The DA's Cold Case Unit said the body of Jeanette Ralston, then 24-years-old and living in San Mateo, was found in the back seat of her Volkswagen Beetle near a San Jose apartment complex in 1977. Police said she had been strangled and raped, and the killer had tried unsuccessfully to burn the car.

San Jose detectives had identified Juan Ramirez as the man who fatally stabbed the woman, who died at a local hospital after the attack in the afternoon of March 22, 2013, in the 900 block of North First Street.

The case is believed to be the first prosecution of transgender domestic violence homicide in Santa Clara County.

At a press conference today, the victim was identified as Regulus Teotico, 45, a bus driver for 10 years and father of two teenagers.
