Jed York was credited with one day served when he pleaded no contest this morning. York initially was charged with engaging in prostitution, but prosecutors amended that to disorderly conduct.

Anthony Becker was found guilty of leaking a 2022 civil grand jury report to a reporter, and then lying about it under oath.

Mayor Lisa Gillmor called the agreement a “loan shark” deal. The National Football League team had sued the City of Santa Clara because it wanted to pay lower public safety costs, and wanted the Santa Clara Stadium Authority to pay for the VIP buffet at games.

The Santa Clara City Council serves as the governing board for the Stadium Authority and will consider the proposed naming rights extension at its next meeting next Tuesday.

Video footage released to media showed 49ers and Raiders fans fighting each other not long after the Niners played a preseasaon game at nearby Levi's Stadium.

The grand jury report, titled "Unsportsmanlike Conduct: Santa Clara City Council," alleged unethical relationships between multiple members of the City Council and the 49ers. Becker allegedly leaked a draft of the report at least three days ahead of its planned Oct.10 release.

With few exceptions, the grand jury report’s observations, conclusions and recommendations landed squarely on one side of the city’s political divide–led by Mayor Lisa Gillmor–that was on the losing end of the 2020 council elections, promping the 49ers to call for an investigation of the grand jury for conflicts of interest.

The settlement ends five years of legal battles between the city and the National Football League team over management of the stadium, and requires the Forty Niners SC Stadium Company and its stadium management firm to pay the city $1,675,000.

As the 2022 election season enters its final quarter, the San Francisco 49ers – whose money boosted prior campaigns in both San Jose this spring and Santa Clara in 2020 – may be staying on the sidelines.

The 49ers offered to pay $3.3 million to the city’s general fund, plus $650,000 to the Santa Clara Stadium Authority, which could spare the authority an additional $8.35 million in legal fees in a protracted dispute.

In December, 49ers executives Jed York and Al Guido announced their support of Cindy Chavez for San Jose mayor, and have followed up with campaign cash.

The vote was preceded by warnings from Doyle and his own attorney that the termination was unfair and illegal.

City staff will discuss Doyle’s “discipline/dismissal/release" behind closed doors in a special meeting Wednesday evening.
