Santa Clara County Updates Covid-19 Reporting Methods

As of Monday afternoon, the county of nearly 2 million people had reported 1,922 confirmed cases of Covid-19 and 83 deaths.

The study’s findings could have ramifications concerning shelter-in-place practices as well as treatment of current COVID-19 patients.

Some pot advocates and peddlers of elixirs now declare that their products can alleviate the symptoms of Covid-19, or even cure it.

While the government has failed in its control of the coronavirus, America’s scientific community is coming together to find solutions.

An infectious disease’s transmissibility is defined as its reproduction rate. And the novel coronavirus virus is very good at reproducing.

Forty-two more people have also tested positive for the highly contagious virus, placing the total number of confirmed cases at 1,484.

The county is also working with local hotels and homeless shelters to isolate and care for people who have nowhere else to go.

No new deaths were reported, so the local death toll remains at 39. Meanwhile, the county reports that nearly 11,000 people have been tested.

Public health officials reported 66 new cases this afternoon, bringing the total up to 956—a 255 percent increase over last week.

We need an immediate change in mindset as to how testing is distributed. We cannot allow this to be yet another social injustice.

Residents are directed to stay home unless they need to venture out for essential errands, such as a trip to the grocery store or the pharmacy.

So far, 591 people in the county have tested positive, though officials expect the actual number is much higher due to the lack of testing.

Health officials unveiled the latest count on a new dashboard—part of an effort by the county to be more transparent about its pandemic response.

In light of the public health crisis that’s upended so many rules already, local leaders have relaxed some of the city’s transparency guidelines.

But if people ignore public health guidelines about staying six feet apart and at home as much as possible, as many as 16,000 could die.
