Beall Announces Candidacy on Facebook

Jim Beall made an official announcement social media-style Thursday, telling all of his Facebook friends that he will, in fact, be running for the state Senate’s 15th District seat.

“Friends—my candidacy for the 15th Senate District is official!” Beall wrote. “I look forward to continuing my work of fighting for middle class families, securing resources for our community, and advocating for those without a voice as your State Senator.”

Beall will host a campaign kick-off canvassing event Sunday.

Name a local office and Beall has probably held it as some point his career. In addition to previously serving in the State Assembly, Beall is a former county supervisor, San Jose city council member and a planning commissioner.

He will run for the seat against Joe Coto and Andrew Diaz, who we almost forgot.

Josh Koehn is a former managing editor for San Jose Inside and Metro Silicon Valley.

  1. Jim Bealle did a very good thing for my neighborhood.

There was a school that was going to be sold and turned into high density housing.  Jim looked out for our neighborhood, found the original land grant, which said it could never be used in that manner.

Without doubt, the man does his homework.  Hopefully I can vote for him, but if not he has my endorsement.

  2. Beall

SJSU grad and staff member for housing.

    San Jose Council Member

    County Supervisor

    State Assembly Member

    Lifetime Service

Senators should be elected after a lifetime of distinguished service

    That equals Jim Beall

  3. I had the pleasure of working with Jim when he was a City of San Jose Council Member.  Jim was a dedicated public servant and he treated everyone, including staff, with respect.

When Jim left the City Counsel, he sent some of us letters of appreciation for the work we had done.  I’ll never forget how I felt when I received that pat on the back from Jim.

I very much hope that Jim can continue to serve the needs of our community.
