United Sikhs has expanded its program to San Jose to mobilize its resources on behalf of those impacted by the massive wildfires.

The skies may have cleared up, but evacuation orders and advisories remain in effect today as the SCU Complex continues to rage.

Resident ordered to evacuate to escape the SCU Lightning Complex fire can find shelter at the Milpitas Library starting at 5pm.

Officials say there were no children in the building at the time and that there were no injuries reported. The cause of the fire is unknown.

The City Council on Tuesday will review the land’s potential uses and the impact it would have on Mineta San Jose International Airport.

Stanford has issued an urgent call for all blood donations because of higher-than-normal hospital usage and a seasonal drop in donations. 

A five-alarm apartment fire that erupted in San Jose Tuesday morning has injured at least 15 people and displaced 120.

Evan Low can host a blood drive, but can’t donate his own blood. Still, the openly gay mayor of Campbell and openly gay Vice Mayor Rich Waterman will lead an American Red Cross drive this afternoon—both for charity’s sake and to make a statement against the federal ban that prohibits men who admit to having sex with other men from giving blood.

The American Red Cross and Harborside Health Center of San Jose are teaming up for the first ever pot club blood drive. Next Tuesday, June 15, Harborside will host a blood donation event at its 2106 Ringwood Ave. location from noon to 6pm.

Naveen Aggarwal, the community outreach coordinator for Harborside San Jose, says that this event marks the first time ever that the Red Cross has partnered with a medical cannabis collective.

“This is completely the first time,” Aggarwal says. “I’ve heard of it attempted in L.A. a while ago. But that didn’t have much success as far as having a lot of donors, and this is definitely the first thing of its kind with the involvement of Red Cross.”
