On Saturday around 8am. a sheriff's deputy made a traffic stop in the area of Rutland and Parkmoor avenues in San Jose. During the stop, the driver-- later identified as Ramos-- allegedly fled on foot from the deputy. 

California Department of Justice can’t say how many cases it chose not to investigate during the past 18 months under a new state law, which aimed to ensure state oversight of police shootings.

The city’s shifting demographics, a continuing affordable housing shortage, endemic homelessness, a looming budget deficit and the reality of five council elections – plus another mayoral ballot – in just two years create additional uncertainties.

The amended Senate Bill 8 was introduced following the mass shootings across the state in January.

Armed with the results of a new poll that shows overwhelming popular support for a special election to fill vacant District 8 and District 10 seats, council members next week may reconsider a plan rejected by a largely lame-duck city council last month.

The new evacuation centers will match unhoused residents with access to facilities and new supplies to accelerate their move from the streets into interim housing.

Biden has previously approved Newsom’s disaster declaration request, including public and individual support for Santa Cruz, Monterey and San Luis Obispo counties.
