Donald Trump Coming Back to Bay Area for San Jose Rally

Undeterred by the freeway-crossing, median-hopping trek to sidestep protesters at his last Bay Area rally, Donald Trump is back—this time in San Jose.

The presumptive Republican presidential nominee has scheduled a “Make America Great Again!” event for 7pm Thursday at the San Jose Convention Center. The evening event comes on the heels of another rally in Sacramento and days ahead of California’s June 7 primary.

During his last Bay Area appearance—the late-April California Republican Party convention in Burlingame—the New York City businessman reached the hotel’s back entrance by way of a Highway 101 service road to avoid picketers.

In a speech to supporters that evening, the candidate likened his roundabout entrance to a border crossing.

“That was not the easiest entrance I’ve ever made,” Trump quipped. “I felt like I was crossing the border, actually.”

It's safe to say, given Silicon Valley's large population of Latinos and other minorities, that protesters will come out in full force for the San Jose rally. Local law enforcement is certainly bracing for an emotionally charged crowd from both pro- and anti-Trump camps.

KQED's South Bay reporter Beth Willon ran a piece this morning that discussed how Trump's anti-immigrant rhetoric has prompted a surge in Latino voter registration. Here's a link to that article.

The Seattle Times ran another interesting piece over the weekend about how Trump's ideas on not only immigration, but trade and the innovation economy have united Silicon Valley against him in disgust. Click here, to give it a read.

To register for the San Jose event, fill out a form on Trump’s campaign website.

    • I thought journalists reported the news not predicted it? She said protesters will come out in full force is almost encouraging it. I’m sure they’ll be flying there Mexican flags they should just go live in Mexico if they want this country to be a little Mexico.

      • I will be there with a sign that reads “Vietnamese for Trump”. I will fly both American and Free Vietnamese flags to support my DEEP LOVE for America!!

  1. The ‘Latinos’ who will be demonstrating are controlled by the Left, which is terrified of Donald Trump. But there are plenty of Hispanics who appreciate the fact that Trump opposes illegal fence-jumpers.

I know a couple myself, and their votes are very definitely not going to Hillary or Sanders.

The Donald doesn’t need to be in California, he’s just coming here because it’s worth $millions in free publicity. And he’s the only candidate not tainted by dirty money and foreign campaign contributions.

What Trump must endeavor to avoid are not picketers or protesters (who have a right to assemble and display signs) but lawbreakers who have no respect for his right to speak freely to those who wish to hear him. Those intent on denying him his rights and others theirs by disrupting the event or physically assaulting him and/or his supporters are enemies of freedom and deserve to be treated as such.

    Jennifer:

I’m probably in the minority of blog denizens who believer that blogmasters such as yourself can be as political and partisan as you damn well please. There are zillions of blogs out there, and all of us are free to patronize, read and post wherever we like. Your postings and your edits simply assert your point of view.

It is a mystery to me that so many people have the idea that journalists were supposed to be “impartial”. I think people are confused.

The “marketplace of ideas” and the abundance of contending voices is what is supposed to allow people to construct mosaics of reality that approximate actual “impartial” reality. That being said, I accept your projection of “Latino and other minorities” opinions of Donald Trump for what it is: narrative, but not “news”.

My reality mosaic suggests to me that Latino’s specifically are not as Trump-o-phobic as you suggest. Probably the majority of “Latino’s” in America are native-born Americans, and are just as interested as everyone else in “making America great again”.

    • As a former journalism student and a news broadcaster, I can tell you that “newsers” are taught to be impartial. This is only for reporting the NEWS not for editorializing. Editorials can be “point” specific. It’s bad, in my opinion, that reporters don’t follow these easy programs that they were taught. On the other hand, I attended news writing classes some 50 years ago. Teachers probably don’t teach that form of writing or broadcasting any more. More money if you teach favoritism.

      • > I can tell you that “newsers” are taught to be impartial. This is only for reporting the NEWS not for editorializing.

My perspective is that “modern” journalists may learn how to write in a pseudo-impartial style, but think of it as just a technique in their toolbox of journalist’s techniques. I suspect that journalism students write “impartial” stories of controversial topics from one point of view, and then turn around and write the story from the opposite point of view just to learn that it can be done.

Journalism seems to have evolved over recent decades from the notion that it is a recounting of “facts” to the notion that it is creating a “narrative”. A given set of “facts” may be consistent with different “narratives” (e.g. “Rashomon”) and what we are getting today from “the news” is a narrative that someone has CHOSEN to tell.

Different journalists will tell different “narratives” based on the same set of facts.

      • What about the Telemundo videographer that staged a scene at the protest of the San Diego Trump rally? I read that he was hired for the event as a contractor, recently released and the video never made it to air because someone caught on to it and exposed them publicly. You can do a simple search for it. Here’s one:

  4. As someone who lived in New York in the ’80s, I know for a fact that Donald Trump is a complete fraud. Anyone who believes anything he says is just plain stupid. Do you really think that someone who tried to make money by getting people to max out their credit cards to learn his “secrets” of getting rich will increase jobs or raise incomes of working people? Wow, are you dumb!

    • > Do you really think that someone who tried to make money by getting people to max out their credit cards to learn his “secrets” of getting rich will increase jobs or raise incomes of working people? Wow, are you dumb!

It’s what PUBLIC universities do ALL THE TIME!

      Ever heard of student loans?

A business degree from Trump University is probably a lot more useful than an “Ethnic Studies” degree from San Jose State.

      • A public university delivers an education. Trump “University” delivered absolutely nothing — except more high pressure sales pitches. Don’t you find it interesting that while there are dozens of people suing Trump, and his own people have given damning testimonies, Trump hasn’t been able to find a single person, NOT ONE, to witness how what he learned allowed him to make millions? Are you really THAT STUPID that you don’t see right through a scam modeled after Scientology and time share sales? Pathetic.

        • > A public university delivers an education.

          More often, MALeducation.

          > Don’t you find it interesting that while there are dozens of people suing Trump, . . .

Unemployable lawyers with degrees from night law schools need to make a living.

      • Then why are there so many dissatisfied customers who have filed a lawsuit to which Trump’s only defense is to insult the judge? Very presidential. BTW Trump University was never an actual university and was not able to award degrees.

        • > BTW Trump University was never an actual university and was not able to award degrees.

Well then, it’s even worse than I thought.

If the enrollees at Trump U. KNEW they were not getting a degree, they were under no illusions.

People who take out HUGE student loans PUSHED by the government and then get WORTHLESS degrees in Gender Studies or Social Work and then find themselves unemployable are really screwed.

          Screwed by the GOVERNMENT/EDUCATION complex..

A student who learned dish washing at Trump University would be worth more to society than a student with a degree in Gender Studies from SJSU.

          • Bubble, you really need to read up on this. Trump targeted the ignorant and got them to max out their credit cards to pay him, not obtain student loans pushed by the government. The lending was pushed by Trump, yet you support a him despite your contempt for the idea of borrowing money for worthless courses. You have a very strange sense of logic.

        • One man: any idiot who maxes out a credit card, no matter who encourages him, is fiscally unsavy and couldn’t learn no matter who was teaching him. Just because you don’t learn doesn’t prove the tools weren’t presented, only that you failed to use them.

    • Utter nonsense. I lived in NYC in the 80s and still do. He came to fame because NYC couldn’t figure out how to fix Wollman ice skating rink and so it was closed for years. Trump came in and hit it fixed within six weeks. You don’t speak for me

      • Boy are you dumb. Just because he fixed an ice rink means he’s not a prolific liar? Thank God I don’t speak for you. You are extremely gullible. BTW he came to the most fame by cheating on Ivana with Marla.

        • To the man’s a fraud,
Let’s not bring up Bill and Hillary cheating scandals at this at this point, wed have to go all the way back to Whitewater and Monica and who has time for all that?

  5. Let’s demonstrate once again how unwelcome this hateful, bigoted, egomaniacal, vainglorious & poorly coiffed robber baron is in California by making his appearance here another memorable one ! And that goes double for the ignorant, intolerant, inbred imbeciles who worship him & embrace his reprehensible views ! It’s a glorious opportunity to remind them that they’re the “minority” now in this Democratic stronghold & that we vehemently disagree with him & every despicable cretin who supports him ! Please don’t block traffic, don’t throw eggs & tomatoes, don’t physically impede access to the Convention Center & don’t get into an altercation with law enforcement, because they’re only doing their jobs ! For God’s sake don’t do anything that you’ve been told to do,the very future of our nation is now in our hands !!!

    • too late pookie…your brain-dead compadres decided to burn US Flags while waving the messican one…they decided to attack several attendees… they decided to throw eggs at others, ignored the police and in general, behaved just as we know you mggots do…

go back to self sucking frankie, perhaps you should hook up with fraudie….if we added both your IQ’s together we’d still need at least 8 more points to get you into double digits…

    • > For God’s sake don’t do anything that you’ve been told to do,the very future of our nation is now in our hands !!!

Evidence of foreknowledge of premeditated and coordinated acts (“conspiracy”) against a candidate for President subject to Secret Service Protection.

I would say Frank’s in trouble.

  6. > It’s a glorious opportunity to remind them that they’re the “minority” now in this Democratic stronghold

    Frank:

Does your 154 IQ allow you to understand the relationship between cause and effect?

“Census Bureau: California still has highest U.S. poverty rate” (Sacramento Bee)
“This State Has The Highest Rate Of Poor People In The Nation” (Huffington Post)
“When It Comes To Poverty, SoCal Is Getting Worse” (Huffington Post)
    “CALIFORNIA: “LAND OF POVERTY” (newgeography)

Here’s a quiz for you, Frank:

If you bring a million poor people into California, does the poverty rate go up or down?

If Donald Trump moved to California, would the poverty rate go up or down?

    • And as Santa Clara County has increased its overall population as well as the percentage of foreign-born workers it has become one of the most economically vibrant regions of the world economy. So what’s your point, Bubble?

    • You’re consistently on the losing side of every issue so predictably you’re a sleazy Trump supporter,no surprise ! I on the other hand am a proud Democrat & rest assured both you & Trump will be even bigger losers than you are now come November !! Your kind don’t count here anymore (well maybe to twenty if you take your shoes off) & when Hillary picks the next Supreme Court Justice we’ll all be laughing at the dwindling number of you self-righteous simpletons again !!! Make America Great Again – LMFAO !!!!

      • > I on the other hand am a proud Democrat

        Frank:

You failed the quiz. Maybe because the numbers I used were too big for you to handle.

        Let’s try again.

        Q. If you bring TEN poor people into California, does the poverty rate go up or down?

Here’s a bonus question for you.

If you stepped onto an elevator with a moron, an imbecile, and a banana slug, would the average IQ of the elevator go up or down? (Note: I’m not asking if the elevator will go up or down. Focus, Frank. Focus).

I know, statistical questions are a challenge for you.

  7. Hooray! Looking forward to Trump’s visit; the only candidate with the leadership to attack the illegal immigrant invasion.

With decades of rule by two Bushes, a Clinton and an Obama, the United States has 12-20 million illegal immigrants, an unsecure borders with record numbers of illegals stealing across the border, and 240 “sanctuary cities” coast-to-coast where cowardly elected officials tolerate illegal immigrants.

It is time to reward legal immigrants and U.S. citizens by bringing back respect for our country, our language and our laws.

Lawlessness cannot be tolerated. Disrespect cannot be tolerated. For example, folks request permission to enter your home; they don’t steal across your door threshold without your permission. Illegal immigrants are stealing across our borders into our homeland without permission. It must not be allowed to continue.

Also, a common language unifies a nation. Putting phones, advertising, driver’s licenses in more than one language has the effect of creating sub-nations in the United States. How soon before the illegal immigrants decide the U.S. should be broken up like the Soviet Union, Yugoslavia, Syria, among others?

Every other candidate sold out to the illegal immigrants, their advocacy groups and to lawlessness, in my opinion. Trump addressed the illegal immigration early on while all the other elected officials stuck their heads in the sand pretending America doesn’t have a problem with illegal immigrants.

    Trump! 2016 and beyond!

    • White power. Gotta love it. Might not work in San Jose, but hey, give it your best shot, troglodytes.

  8. Born and raised in San Jose. Trump anyday, we lived through Ron Gonzales, a billygoat or donkey. You say left this or that,,,,we have had the left here for a long time. They left us with nothing but debt. Let’s move on.

  9. Not sure why the people who want eliminate government want to elect a president who wants ultimate absolute power. Seems rather opposite of any libertarian ideals. Then again, working poor people are voting for a guy that gets rich by casually firing people and sinking entire companies for profit (no kids, he neither knows nor cares about middle class anything).
Getting misled by a snake oil salesman? You Betcha! Just ask those highly successful, satisfied Trump University “grads!”

  10. Finally! Frank Mockery has provided the rest of us with something useful, in fact, an outstanding bit of insight — into how he and the rest of the culture-destroyers think:

“Your kind don’t count here anymore…”

Though they proclaim (and perhaps even delude themselves into believing) that their loathing of all things Trump is based on the man himself, in truth what they loathe are the traditions and traditionalists of America. Mockery’s comfort with the idea of disenfranchising a “kind” of American (law-abiding conservative) speaks to the sophomoric and dangerous hypocrisy that today serves as the core belief and rallying cry of that desperate old whore that used to be the Democratic Party.

Trump is an easy target, he’s flawed and impetuous, but were conservatives supporting someone else the attacks would be just as vicious and the intentions of the attackers just as ugly and un-American. Truth be told, Donald Trump is a candidate for president because the likes of Frank Mockery have become so ugly and so un-American that conservatives could no longer chance putting their fate in the hands of the Republican brain trust.

Frank Mockery is dumb enough to hope for an America where law-abiding conservatives don’t count anymore, but should his wishes come true “that kind” won’t be around anymore to staff the armed forces and police necessary to provide protection for “his kind.”

    • Trumps’ comments, likening his roundabout entrance to his speaking event to that of a “border crossing”, seem a bit naïve.

In order to truly get a sense of an actual border crossing, Trump would had to have mule’d some drugs across the border, dropped them off at the designated area/person, then gone immediately on welfare under a variety of different names after impregnating one or more illegal immigrant females who would then receive about $1,500 monthly for each lovable “anchor baby” ( or “ancla bebe” for those who wish to learn the primary language of California or, ”Aztlan”) that they manufacture, and that our poor “contributor” can also receive Federal government “refugee” aid of $1,890 each month.

Trump would also have to realize that each poor immigrant yearning to be free and contributing to the economy “doing jobs that Americans won’t do” can also obtain an additional $580 in social assistance, for a total of $2,470 a month, not counting “las anclas” for that extra $1500 apiece, per month.

Trump also would have to understand that this doesn’t take into account the poor overworked freedom seeking “check collector” who also files a worker’s compensation claim for any questionable injury incurred during an “under the table” job (workers comp laws apply to legal or illegal workers) then goes to a “sanctuary city”, where he is practically free to commit most any crime with virtual impunity, (no “profile stops”, please) and if the crime can’t be ignored (the way multiple deportations are) then he will be provided free legal counsel through the Public Defender’s office (free to all but the taxpayers) prior to receiving early release and given job training and rehabilitation, again at no charge to himself. He can also get free legal counsel to help him fight deportation (if such proceedings are even allowed in a “sanctuary city”).

If the “immigrant” is over 65, they can apply for SSI and Medicaid and get more than a “legal immigrant” (is there such a mythical creature in California anymore?) on Social Security, who worked from 1944 until 2004 who is only getting $791 per month because they were born in 1924 and there’s a “Catch 22”.

Nevermind about Trump, will someone please deport me so I can sneak back in !?!

  11. For God’s sake, SJInside editors, get rid of the comments sections! These comment sections are nothing but a toxic stew!

  12. Those who are shocked — SHOCKED — by the SCANDAL of Trump University, might want to take a valium, a Scotch, and a pan of medicinal marijuana brownies before hyperventilating over the shenanigans at Laurate University.

Not surprisingly, there are Clinton’s involved.

    http://www.wnd.com/2016/06/clinton-for-profit-education-scandal-dwarfs-trump-u/

“NEW YORK – Bill and Hillary Clinton’s attack on Donald Trump over Trump University could invite increased scrutiny of the Clintons’ involvement in a for-profit education scandal in which a company that runs shell colleges paid Bill Clinton $16.5 million to be its pitchman.

While the Clintons were collecting millions, Hillary Clinton’s State Department funneled at least $55 million to a group run by the college company, Laureate Education Inc., according to Peter Schweizer’s book “Clinton Cash” as Breitbart reported.

Clinton abruptly resigned from his post as “honorary chancellor” in April 2015 when the disclosure was publicized.”
