FBI says the plot to divert millions in software license fees from an unidentified San Jose company went on for years before being detected.

Donald Siao continued to prescribe opioids to one man after he repeatedly claimed the opioids were lost or stolen, after he had been flagged by his prior medical provider for drug-seeking behavior, and after the man's mother fatally overdosed on opioids.

Jonathan Vu Hoang, formerly of San Jose, admitted he created a bogus investment company and defrauded multiple investors by falsely promising them he would invest their money.

Prosecutors said the suspect misappropriated and diverted more than $7.3 million of investor funds for his own personal benefit, which included paying credit card debts; making cash withdrawals; paying for travel, luxury automobile and jewelry purchases; and paying utilities bills.

Former HeadSpin CEO Manish Lachwani admitted he presented false revenue information to investors, from whom the company raised more than $100 million.

Dhirendra Prasad, 55, of Mountain Home, also was ordered to pay more than $19 million in restitution to his former employer and the IRS.

Annie Corbett, the owner of Corbett Homes, pleaded guilty and was sentenced Wednesday to spend 12 months and a day in prison for wire fraud and failure to pay employment taxes.

Corbett pleaded guilty to the charges on Sept.15. She was the owner, CEO and president of Corbett Group Homes, Inc.

Joanne Segovia is accused of buying and distributing opioids for eight years, running some transactions from her San Jose Police Officers’ Association office.
