A Santa Clara County Superior Court jury earlier this year found Jesse Manuel Figueroa guilty of murder, for fatally striking 8-month-old Baby Raina in 2020 while babysitting her.

The sentencing will allow Becker to participate in a three-days-per-week work program under supervision of the Sheriff’s Office. 

Rides must begin and end at a VTA bus or light rail stop, and must be ordered on Uber’s mobile app.  

Gov. Gavin Newsom on Thursday announced the appointment of two Superior Court judges in Santa Clara County, Jon Heaberlin and Meghan Piano. The new judges were among 10 Superior Court judges and two Court of Appeal justices appointed statewide. Heaberlin has served as a commissioner at the county Superior Court since 2023.

Judge Evette Pennypacker ruled that Calvary Chapel San Jose is liable to pay the fines and interest after the church held indoor services and other gatherings and did not require attendees to wear a face covering.

A second inmate at the Elmwood Correctional Facility in Milpitas was also found unconscious in the jail bathroom, was revived and is hospitalized in stable condition. Neither man was identified by the Sheriff’s Office.
