The county contributed $1 million from its Measure A Affordable Housing Bond to help transform a historic building into four units of affordable housing.

As of Nov. 10, there remained just 7,000 ballots to be counted in the race for Santa Clara County Assessor, out of more than 460,000 votes.

Housing officials report that the number of new housing units completed and occupied under Measure A is not quite 25% of the bond's goal of 4,800 new affordable housing units set in 2016.

The supervisors unanimously approved the purchase of four properties, creating 324 affordable housing units: two in San Jose, one in Morgan Hill and one in Santa Clara.

In his annual State of the City report, Mayor Sam Liccardo said that in 2021, the city suffered through 'the loss of loved ones to a lingering pandemic, the horrors of mass shootings, the sight of encampments and shuttered storefronts, and the struggles of too many families unable to pay rent.'
