News In Review: Kept Under Wraps

For the moment at least, the Norcal documents are being kept under wraps.  Barry Witt reports on the story for the Mercury News, describing how each mayoral candidate voted.  Hint: they weren’t all on the same side.

Away from the council chambers, real life happened this week too.  Hey, I wonder if some of those police cars will be patrolling downtown?

  1. Cindy has struck a blow for secrecy and obfuscation by her continuing efforts to support Gonzo and deny the NorCal “problem.” This issue should be raised at every candidate forum and every public event she attends. Her pathetic responses are embarrassing and this issue alone should knock her out of contention to be mayor.

  2. Regarding the Almaden Resident story it’s good to know that our state Department of Justice has it’s priorities straight

A fundraiser put on by a notorious gang like the Almaden Business Association to raise bucks for such dangerous activities as children’s story time at a sleazy joint like neighborhood library must be stopped!

Maybe now the crime-fighters at DOJ can do something about those bingo games in church basements!

  3. Good one Mal.

“Take a bit out of crime” Lockyer should find the time to investigate and shut down the special interest no-limit SJ Hold ‘em game in progress on the 18th floor being played with local taxpayer chips.

Lockyer’s vigilance/silliness on this kinda makes you wonder how much he is into the Indian casino lobby for.

  4. We will need to keep a bigger eye on Cindy as early as this coming January.  She is currently vice chair on the VTA’s Board of Directors and is due to be Board Chair in the New Year.

If she voted to keep the NorCal emails a secret as Vice Mayor and City Councilmember, what is she hiding about how much BART to San Jose will really cost you?  What is she not telling about what transportation projects, sales tax proposals, transit fare hikes, and service cuts will be needed to fund this boondoggle called BART?

    Think about it…

  5. Cindy also has a lot of explaining to do over her leadership of the secret Counter 2 Council group. The hand picked this group made up mostly of the usual suspects with the intent to remove as much review as possible from the planning process. Instead of forming a truly represenative group that would address the issue from a perspective other than just that of the development community, Cindy has headed up this stack deck that met virtually in secret. It was so under the radar that even some councilmembers did not know about it.
Cindy’s defenders have a lot of work to do to make mayoral material out of this.
How long are we going to put up with this???

  6. Slight correction on the last questions given next week’s VTA Board vote to place another transit sales tax measure on the November 2006 ballot:

What does Cindy know about what transportation projects will need to be delayed or cancelled to make BART happen?  Will local sales taxes need to be in to the double-digits?  How many transit rate hikes and route cuts will be needed?  What secret deals has Cindy and the rest of San Jose’s contingent on the VTA Board made “under the table” to who will ultimately construct the BART tracks and other infrastructure to the Valley?

These same questions should also go to the other mayoral candidate and fellow VTA Board member David Cortese.

The only way I see anyone waking up to the corrupt politics here in San Jo’ is when someone they care for is harmed (physically or financially) or even killed due to a backroom policy developed and implemented into law by our current “leadership.”

  7. Eugene, I like the way you think.

Many, many years ago there was a ballot measure that, if passed, would have brought BART to Santa Clara County. The two Bay Area counties that voted it down were Santa Clara and San Mateo. I refer to the first BART ballot issue.

Now,some30? years later, the greedy folks of BART want to find a way to get the money out of Santa Clara County.

Now, I am not a fan of VTA but, I don’t want any of my tax money going to the BART crooks. (Not a title but proven). So Cindy, find some other cow to milk. I will not vote for you but ,if you should win an election for the mayoral position, I will challenge every move you make to bring BART to our city.

P.S. You could win me over if you could guarantee a direct connection for me in Willow Glen to San Jose International Airport.

    You can’t. Give up.
