Police said the suspect stole over $18,000 worth of Lego sets and other merchandise from various Target stores in San José. 

Six former Apple employees defrauded both the State of California and Apple’s Matching Gifts Program, obtaining approximately $152,000 for a cultural exchange program, then overreporting around $100,000 in charitable contributions as tax deductions, according to prosecutors.

Gov. Gavin Newsom on Thursday announced the appointment of two Superior Court judges in Santa Clara County, Jon Heaberlin and Meghan Piano. The new judges were among 10 Superior Court judges and two Court of Appeal justices appointed statewide. Heaberlin has served as a commissioner at the county Superior Court since 2023.

When San Jose police officers with the Metro and Violent Crimes Enforcement Teams served a fentanyl-related search warrant at an unhoused encampment in south San Jose on Sunday, they discovered a big haul of cash and illegal drugs. Two primary suspects were taken into custody nearby and the subsequent search yielded two firearms, narcotics for sale, drug paraphernalia, and over $17,000 in cash, according to police. Both suspects had been prohibited from owning firearms because of prior criminal records, police said.

Don Earl McCleve, M.D., (94), of Monte Sereno, passed away on September 28, 2024 in Bellingham, Washington, at the home of his oldest son, Todd. He was happily married for sixty years to Beverly Stern McCleve before her passing in 2020. Originally from Holbrook, Arizona, he moved to California to attend Stanford University and Stanford Medical School, becoming an ear, nose, and throat doctor and surgeon.

The California Coastal Cleanup Day is an international effort to protect the ocean, watersheds, and wildlife from trash and debris.

Police seized over 37 pounds of cocaine and 17 pounds of crack cocaine valued at over $2 million, plus weapons and approximately $120,000 in cash.

Roberto Rivera, 50, of San Jose, died from multiple gunshot wounds Monday morning at a local hospital. An adult male who had been shot by Rivera remained in critical condition.
