While lopsided polling and fundraising have given the Yes on 50 campaign an undeniable advantage, Gov. Gavin Newsom’s team is taking nothing for granted as Election Day arrives.

As the Nov. 4 election day approaches, most of the money for and against the plan to redraw California congressional districts was spent not by the campaign organizations, but by nonprofits, political parties and a billionaire.

The independent body that redraws the state’s political maps isn’t perfect, but many Republicans prefer that to the gerrymander that Gov. Gavin Newsom seeks to offset one proposed in Texas.
