Dozens of alleged Nuestra Familia gang members were indicted by a criminal grand jury on 77 charges, which range from meth sales to murder. It’s the largest gang case Santa Clara County has ever tackled: 48 people charged in a hefty 99-page indictment.
“This is a sophisticated, complex criminal organization that required a sophisticated, multi-faceted law enforcement and prosecutorial response,” District Attorney Jeff Rosen said in a statement released Tuesday morning.

The regiment, led originally by felon Luis “Wicked” Barrios, faces charges of a three-year countywide racket that ended a month ago when authorities nabbed a suspect in Reno. Other street names listed in the indictment include “Dopey,” “Turtle,” “Bolo,” “Soldier Boy” and “Lunatic.”
The indictment accuses the gang unit of attempted murder, dissuading a witness, firearm possession by a felon, assault, holding up bank tellers and robbing $60,000 from five San Jose banks with guns and bomb threats.
Of the 48 people charged, 34 are accused of trying to peddle meth. Ten are women, eight have a criminal past, one was arrested this morning and nine remain on the lam.
The grand jury says four gang members—Josef Ryan Oaks, 24; Alberto Jose Larez, 44; Angel Martinez, 30; and Ruben Cruz, 21—shot 38-year-old NF member Martin Chacon in the back of the head at Oakland Road and Charles Street last August.
They all seem like such nice young men though. Who would have thought?
Will any of these unfortunate misunderstandings have adverse affects on their qualifications for the Dream Act?
This news item may provide a teachable moment about race-based statistics in the field of felonies and hate crimes.
The FBI records will recognize almost all these fellows under the “white” category. The FBI does not recognize a perpetrator category called “Hispanic” which means (assuming the members of a gang called Nuestra Familia to be Hispanic) that the FBI, on receiving the arrest information, will divide the category “Hispanic” into “white” (about 90%) and “black” (about 10%). No one knows why.
The same is not true in the victim categories. There is a very specific category of victims called “Hispanic” although there is no Hispanic category for perpetrators.
Local and state statistical practices do not always mirror the federal practice, but the same thing happens with other localities’ arrests…Hispanic perpetrators become black or white perpetrators in Washington, D.C. Very strange way to do statistics.
Joshua, we are writing about different things. Our post was about the way that the FBI manipulates felony & hate crime arrest statistics which are then taken up by newspapers like the SF Chronicle and the SJ Mercury News to promote the anti-white narrative.
Your post is about prison management and we imagine you are correct there.
An interesting example of our point is a current low-intensity conflict in San Francisco. Some activists and the SF Chronicle are campaigning to change how the SFPD keeps arrest records. The SFPD follows the FBI rule and does not keep Hispanic arrest records as a separate category. Some Hispanic activists want the SFPD arrest record-keeping changed so Hispanic arrests can be monitored and investigated for civil rights violations.
A second example is the very first Internet hate crime. A foreign student from a South American country at university in LA sent bitter, hateful notes to 56 Asian American students, and he was arrested and convicted of 56 hate crimes. Guess what? They were all listed as “white” felony hate crimes. That served the anti-white narrative very well indeed.
This manipulation of hate crime and other felony arrest statistics is never explained by daily print media much to the detriment of their credibility in a variety of ways.
While your point is accurate in certain contexts, this is not one of them. The prison system does identify the Hispanic ethnic group. Interesting fact: within the CA prison system there are a few different race/ethnic classifications-Black, White, Northern Hispanic, Southern Hispanic, Mexican National, Other. This means that someone of Mexican decent whose family has been in this country for at least a generation but has no gang affiliation will be housed with whoever the dominant gang is in their half of CA. This odd practice creates some Nortenos and Surenos as the inmate has absolutely no choice but to go with the program of the gang. Blacks and Whites are also affiliated of course however you could be a non affiliate and house w/ others of your race who are not affiliated either-those of Mexican heritage specifically and exclusively do not have that option. Other Hispanics are considered “Others” and thus do not face that dilemma.

We have , because of the way our politicians have neglected our horrible living conditions under slum lords, So many children have had horrible brain development. Simply due to Lead exposure in their one year to 6 year developmental brain growth.
