Gov. Brown Signs Bill to Auto-Register CA Voters at DMV

While a growing number of states across the country are taking measures to make it more difficult to vote, Gov. Jerry Brown just made voter registration in California a breeze.

Well, maybe not a breeze—the DMV is involved—but it’s a monumental step forward in eliminating excuses for not registering.

Over the weekend, Brown signed a bill into law that now automatically registers people to vote if they have a license or state identification card. The decision is expected to boost voter turnout, which languished at 42.2 percent last November. An estimated 6.6 million Californians are believed to be unregistered.

In a report from the Sacramento Bee, Democratic leaders across the state hailed the decision as a giant step forward for the electoral process, making California a model for other states to follow.

“In a free society, the right to vote is fundamental,” said Secretary of State Alex Padilla. “We do not have to opt-in to other rights, such as free speech or due process. The right to vote should be no different.”

Rollout of the new registration program will coincide with the launch of VoteCal, a new state voter database, which is expected to ensure non-citizens who receive a driver’s license or ID card are not included in the voter registration process.

This hasn’t stopped some critics, however, from suggesting the new law paves the way for “state-sanctioned voter fraud.” Such claims overlook the fact that the DMV’s database notes non-citizens who have acquired a license.

For those who really just hate the idea of voting or even registering, an opt-out provision is available.

You should investigate and report on the particulars of,

“Rollout of the new registration program will coincide with the launch of VoteCal, a new state voter database, which is expected to ensure non-citizens who receive a driver’s license or ID card are not included in the voter registration process.”

A few analytical comments as to the construction, maintenance and cost of this database would be helpful. Whether this database could be “hacked” should be discussed in detail and verified.

The big issue concerns itself with prohibiting non-citizen access to voter registration.

Obviously, the “authorities” know who is an “illegal alien” and where they live.

In a rational, law-abiding society, law enforcement would visit these people, check their papers, and then deport them.

  2. Question:

Will the government database of “non-citizens” be public information?

Will members of the big, dumb white working class be able to enter the names of the people who took their jobs into the database to see if they are H1B’s or illegal aliens?

        • Would it be too complex for you to not refer to other humans as illegal or alien?

That’s an interesting direction to take my challenge of your antagonistic behavior on the SJI.

Do you only like having the flaccidity of your comments challenged by some sort of entitled class or demographic?

          • > Do you only like having the flaccidity of your comments challenged by some sort of entitled class or demographic?

            Ummmm. Yes.

            Er. No.

            No, wait. I don’t know.

Your question is too complicated. Could you ask it again?

          • Sal says:

“Would it be too complex for you to not refer to other humans as illegal or alien?”

“Illegal alien” is a legal term, like “felonious assault”. You know, like the illegal alien in S.F. who shot Kate Steinele in the back, killing her.

Sal, some people are illegal aliens. That’s how the law refers to them. What exactly is wrong with that?

          • There is nothing antogonistic about accurately describing an illegal aliens illegal status.

  3. Over the weekend, Brown signed a bill into law that now automatically registers people to vote if they have a license or state identification card.

Translation: The flood of illegals has now been turned into voters.

This is illegal in itself, since voters must be citizens. But Gov. Moonbeam and the corrupt Dems have pushed the envelope to the point that illegal aliens are entitled to get a drivers license, and now they will automatically be mailed a ballot!

And the ‘state ID card?’ Illegals can get those, too.

The flood of illegals is ramping up exponentially, and in 99% of the cases it is not because they’re escaping some kind of persecution at home. They are mostly young males, leaving their third-world countries and coming here for the taxpayer loot. The Mexican government has even issued comic books explaining how to cash in once they get here.

Now that illegals will be sent ballots automatically, word will spread through their communities like wildfire about various ballot measures, and which ones will provide more free stuff at taxpayers’ expense. Do you think your state taxes are high now?

I don’t watch TV, so I never thought much about Donald Trump. But he is the only candidate who is not afraid to say what we need to do: control our borders! Every other candidate is wishy-washy, preferring to run their talking points past in-house focus groups and pollsters.

Enough! I won’t vote for a timid leader. If we don’t change the status quo now, our savings and earnings will be voted into the pockets of foreign citizens here illegally. Is there any doubt?

And that’s not even the worst thing about the illegal immigrant invasion. The largest group of illegals flooding in now are Arab speakers. Draw your own conclusions…

    …and vote accordingly.

  4. > so I never thought much about Donald Trump. But he is the only candidate who is not afraid to say what we need to do: control our borders!

I expect NOTHING interesting to come out of CNN’s gushy infomercial for Hillary, this evening.

So, instead of watching the “debate”, I will be listening to the audio, and monitoring the Donald Trump realtime Twitter feed.

Finally! An actual use for “social media”?

    • If you missed the debate, here’s all you need to know.

      High point of the debate:

Anderson Cooper: “Do you want to respond to the email question?”

      Hillary: “No”

      Mob: “Ya-a-a-a-a-y” [clap, clap, clap, clap, clap. . . . ]

  5. “Rollout of the new registration program will coincide with the launch of VoteCal, a new state voter database, which is expected to ensure non-citizens who receive a driver’s license or ID card are not included in the voter registration process.” The DMV database can’t even eliminate dead people from its list of folks with handicap placards, and they expect it to eliminate the millions of folks who are here illegally??? I know people who have written the DMV repeatedly to inform it that a relative with a handicap placard has died. Yet the DMV has sent a renewal placard to the dead people anyway. Does Governor Moonbeam believe the DMV system will weed out illegals? Is he overutilizing his 420 card? And if the voter registration is automatic, you can bet that all the automatic registrants will be registered as Democrats. Another step toward Mexifornia. It’s too bad that so many Tea Party folks and radical right Christians are soooo off the hook; because their divisiveness and intractableness drowns the message that this country, and California in particular, need a massive change in “leadership”.

  6. This database will be a game changer. Perhaps it will help simplify the election process. Once you parse the data into voting areas it will be so helpful. You can target your campaign or “News” information, helping us decide who to lead us in the future. The sheep will no longer be nameless.

    • Artiodactly,

Either you’re deliberately missing the point, or you are incredibly naive. The central (and really, the only) purpose of this scheme is to pad the voter rolls with millions of new Democrat voters.

It is clear to any thinking person that this has been planned for a long time: first came “Motor Voter”. Then, registration forms were made available everywhere, even at fast food outlets (illegals love those). Next, it was made illegal to question anyone’s citizenship status. And now, the jackpot: ballots will be mailed to the illegal invasion army. Millions of them. Is that A-OK with you?

It’s a brilliant con, and if I were the über-corrupt Gov. Moonbeam I would be very happy about pulling off this scam on California citizens and taxpayers. It gives a sort-of plausible deniability to the legal requirement that only U.S. citizens are allowed to vote.

See, they’re gonna check the names. Ri-i-i-i-i-ght. *…nudge … *wink*

This same Administration will be in charge of “policing” (HA!!) the voter rolls. Illegals will be mailed ballots. There may be a token few that are ‘caught’, and the tame media will trumpet the narrative that ‘the system is working!’ But don’t kid yourself. This was designed from the get-go to allow millions of illegal aliens to vote – illegally – in California elections. Do you like the idea that citizens of foreign countries will be voting on how the state will spend your tax dollars?

You are right when you say they will “decide who will lead us in the future”. But you might as well be a cheerleader for the friendly neighborhood MS13 cartel, or the accelerating flood of young Arab males who will illegally elect our “leaders”. Because of their swelling numbers, citizens of foreign countries will be calling the shots. Not you. Your job will be to pay what they demand.

        • Dear Ella,

Where did you get your winning personality from, your parents?

See, Ella, there are these things called ‘peer pressure’ and ‘enlightened self interest’.

Everyone will be *encouraged* to either vote, or more likely, to just sign their ballot envelope and turn in their ballots to their friendly neighborhood MS13 enforcer.

          Easy peasy.

        • I’m not so sure about that, Ella… they will also have an option that allows them to vote by mail, if they so choose. If they don’t want to be bothered, there is nothing to keep them from being persuaded to do so by someone who wants to use their vote… or I have heard of people paying some amount to get them to vote a certain way. An easy few extra dollars for something one might not really care about… This is serious stuff. Big mistake by California legislators. :-(

  7. Law of unintended cosequences says California may now help elect The Donald -or- the countdown to Sharia Law in California just started/was sped up…

    • .> Law of unintended cosequences says California may now help elect The Donald

      Really?!

California is a one party Democrat fiefdom. BUT! California voters — even California Democrat voters — are suckers for celebrity.

Maybe California COULD go for Trump.

      Hmmmm.

  8. This is just wonderful. Lets issue them a concealed carry permit and a medical marijuana prescription and enough food stamps to keep them drunk till after the election! No one is checking ID’s at the ballot box anyway……………
