Best Places to Watch Fireworks, Celebrate the 4th of July

You may have a barbecue planned or a pool in which to swim and soak yourself to prune-pleteness. But maybe, just maybe, you haven't figured out plans for the Fourth of July, the most sacred of national holidays. We've got you covered.

Here's a list of some of the best events in Silicon Valley to celebrate our nation's independence. And watch fireworks. And #freedom.

San Jose Inside will be off for the holiday and return Monday.

Rose, White and Blue Parade

In a revival of the historic Fiesta de Las Rosas Parade, the popular Rose, White and Blue Parade wends its way through the Rose Garden neighborhood with live music, floats and dancers. The parade begins at Lincoln High School and ends on the Alameda with a picnic featuring food from local restaurants like Tee Nee Thai, Rosie's New York Pizza and Treatbot. (555 DANA AVE., SAN JOSE)

Rotary Fireworks

Celebrating its 101st year of existence, the Rotary Club of San Jose will hold a massive fireworks show at Discovery Meadow in downtown San Jose. Last year's event drew a massive crowd, and the free, city-sponsored event (9:30pm) is expected to be even bigger this year. (180 WOZ WAY, SAN JOSE)

San Jose Giants Fireworks Show

The San Jose Giants hit the field against the Stockton Ports followed by a fireworks show after the game. As of this writing tickets are still available, but they go quickly. Those who don't manage to secure tickets can still see the show from various spots surrounding the stadium. (588 E. ALMA AVE., SAN JOSE)

AFK Gamer Lounge Barbecue and Party

In the spirit of celebrating the birth of the nation, the AFK Gamer Lounge is throwing a barbecue with an added bonus, kicking butt and enjoying the fun of familiar titles in a variety of video game tournaments and free counsel play. With an all American beer pong table and giant Jenga, guests are encouraged to grab a beer and food, prepared by Chef Sal, for this Independence Dy celebration. (163 W. SANTA CLARA ST., SAN JOSE)

Los Gatos Celebrates the 4th of July

The celebration will take place at the Civic Center, featuring a picnic lunch and performance from the San Jose Wind Symphony. There will also be games and family-friendly activities. (110 E. MAIN ST., LOS GATOS)

Cupertino Fourth of July

Cupertino hosts a variety of Fourth of July activities, starting at Memorial Park with a pancake breakfast, flag raising, parade and concert. At night, Blackberry Farm hosts free swimming, a BBQ, and live music. (INTERSECTION OF STEVENS CREEK BOULEVARD AND MARY AVENUE, CUPERTINO)

Summer Festival and Chili Cook-off

Twenty chefs will compete at the Summer Festival and Chili Cook-off for the chili championship. Live music and entertainment, along with face painting and other activities for children, is planned. (1305 MIDDLEFIELD RD., PALO ALTO)

Freedom Fest 2015

Freedom Fest 2015 kicks off with a 5k run with awards given to top finishers and those who participate in costume. For those that would rather push some pedals, the Bike Classic features multiple routes that begin in the morning. Morgan Hill has been celebrating the 4th with a parade since 1876 and this year is no exception with floats, live music, performances and a huge fireworks display. Independence Day in Gilroy

The City of Gilroy celebrates the 4th of July with the Independence Day BBQ at Gilroy Gardens. Promised provisions include BBQ favorite like chicken, hot dogs, potato salad, and western style chili beans. (3050 HECKER PASS HWY., GILROY)

4th of July Fireworks Show with the San Francisco Symphony

The Shoreline Amphitheater is hosting their yearly fireworks special with the San Francisco Symphony. Live entertainment on the family fun stage starts at 8pm, followed by a fireworks display. (1 AMPHITHEATRE PKWY., MOUNTAIN VIEW)

4th of July Parade and Festival

Redwood City hosts its 76th annual 4th of July Parade. The parade is scheduled with a pancake breakfast, run and car show. The block party will have entertainment for all ages including arts and crafts, food and a carnival. The Port of Redwood City will hold the fireworks show. (DOWNTOWN REDWOOD CITY)
