Governor’s Budget Cuts Supervisors

Approximately 1.25 Will Be Terminated

In a radical and controversial move, Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger has called for 25-percent across-the-board reductions in General Fund programming and county supervisor representation in Santa Clara County.

Initial estimates will put the savings at just under $55.6 million to state commitments and $6.8 million in county funding. The majority of the county savings are earmarked to revert as credits to the state budget along with the eventual pillaging of San Jose’s redevelopment budget.

“There is no other way to get around the waste that happens on the county level,” said the governor’s spokesperson. “We can’t even get them to drink their own tap water.”

According to the county charter, the decision of who to cut will fall to county assessor Larry Stone. Insiders point out the awkward conflict of interest this poses since Mr. Stone socializes with, receives funding for his development company from, and sends Christmas cards to all five of the supervisors.

“This decision will single-handedly knock his chances down for winning the ‘Schmoozer of the Year’ award for 2008,” said one insider on the condition of anonymity.

Calculations run by SanJoseInside’s financial department have determined the 25 percent cut to be a net loss of 1.25 supervisors and a proportional number of staff members. County Counsel Ann Ravel has been hard at work trying to figure out the proper legal method to physically reduce human beings to 75 percent of their normal size. Immediate indications show likely options to be strict dieting or appointing a Lilliputian to take over one of the districts.

  1. Anyone notice any fallout, anyone suffered any collateral damage from our state legislators doing nothing over the past 3 months?

    Exactly.

What would it take to change State Assembly and State Senate jobs to part time?

  2. In Oregon the state assembly and state senate meet from January to May EVERY OTHER YEAR!!  They spend the other eighteen months out of each twenty four at the REAL JOBS. Only the Governor is year-round.

Think how many bucks Californians would save if we had that program in place.

  3. California needs ” Public Interest First State Government” not “political losers, not leaders” and special interest state government we have

    1) make legislature part time citizens with real jobs not current “political losers, not leaders ” legislature controlled by career politicians, state government employee unions and special interests who put their political and financial interests before public interest

    2) state budget should be 2 year budget

    3) state should have dedicated state funds allocated to local governments for state mandated costs without state declared yearly budget emergency takeaways

4)redistricting should be taken away from ” “political losers, not leaders” and ineffective mean spirited political parties that are the problem not solution to cost efficient and effective “public interest first state government”

    5) put a limit on size of state government as percentage of population since it continues to grow uncontrolled

Look at California “political losers, not leaders”

Governor Arnold “Terminator” who is self promoting bragger with no political leadership skills who tried to bully legislature into Republican Party self interest reforms and terminated any possibly of budget or reform compromise when he lost

Don ” my red pimpmobile was carjacked in Oakland” Peralta who is mean spirited hypocritical political bully under FBI corruption investigation

Karen “I am new Speaker and any of us can talk to Fabian if we choose to” Bass who will not talk to Fabian “let taxpayers and lobbyist pay for European trips” Nunez on how he worked together with Arnold and Don
